With roots going back to 1767 we have created an idyllic oasis where inspiring, historic surroundings and southern Jutland hospitality come together. Whether you are here on a course, staying in our little cabin or one of the newly renovated rooms, walking the paths or having a fire by one of the lakes, we hope you have a unique experience and leave relaxed, inspired and full of energy.
Kirkeskovgaard is the realisation of a dream Annette and Jakob Thøisen have had for many years: to share their little oasis with others – the splendour, natural beauty and calm of the place. To create unique surroundings that can spread knowledge of Danish hygge and Sønderjylland. And for Kirkeskovgaard to be known and recognised as a place of recreation, development and hygge for companies and their employees as well as for private guests.
Your hosts
Annette and Jakob have a vision of combining their hobby and passion and creating a good, meaningful life. Kirkeskovgaard is the base for it all.
Since summer 2014 they have used the farm as a holiday home. In spring 2017 the course wing with the first two rooms was opened, and in June 2017 the couple married in Branderup Church – and moved permanently to Kirkeskovgaard. Since then they have completely renovated the old farmhouse and built the farm up into what it is today.
Annette and Jakob both love looking after their guests and making sure everyone feels at home.
Annette Mørk Thøisen
Host, coach and owner of AT udvikling
Annette spent 20 years at Danske Bank, latterly as sales manager and branch manager responsible for internal training and leadership programmes – and since 2006 has run her own consultancy. She is known for empathy, commitment and infectious energy.
Jakob Thøisen
Host and co-owner of AT udvikling
Jakob was CEO of the ingredients company Palsgaard in Juelsminde until January 2023 and now sits on its board. He is passionate about strategy, sustainable development and ESG.
The place has a history
An old photograph shows the farm as it looked many years ago. Today the buildings live on in a new form: in 2017 the course wing opened, and in 2020–21 the old hayloft was converted with support from LAG and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development: Europe invests in rural areas.
The project “Kirkeskovgaard – an oasis for growth and wellbeing” gave us a large course room with its own entrance, two toilets and access to a serving kitchen – and today four guest rooms as well. We aim to create three to five full-time jobs at Kirkeskovgaard over the coming years.
AT udvikling – leadership, wellbeing and sustainability
AT udvikling is Annette and Jakob’s consultancy, working with leadership, team and personal development, stress management and sustainability (ESG). It was founded by Annette in 2006, and Jakob became co-owner in 2020. Courses often take place at Kirkeskovgaard – and use Icelandic horses as part of the learning process.
Vision: To see happy and satisfied customers who have achieved improved results – humanly, financially and sustainably.
Mission: To help customers create growth and healthy results through good leadership, high employee wellbeing and a clear, operational strategy that contributes positively and sustainably to the environment and society.
