What is real hygge?
Hygge is not a decoration. It is presence, calm and small moments: a cup of tea as the mist lifts off the lake. A fire where people speak quietly. A blanket, a book, candlelight and someone to share it with.
At Kirkeskovgaard hygge is built into the place. The cabin is furnished with wicker armchairs and candles – guests describe it as “romantic and hygge at night when the candles are lit”. In the evening you can light a fire by one of the lakes or let your thoughts settle in the wood-fired hot tub (add-on).

Can we light a fire?
Yes, there are several fire spots by the lakes and we are happy to help with firewood and a barbecue. Ask us on arrival.
Is the hot tub included?
No, the hot tub and wellness are add-ons. The wellness package is DKK 495 with the Couples Retreat – ask when you book.
Is it child friendly?
Yes, the dower house in particular suits families with children.

“The cabin comes highly recommended! A lovely, quiet place, rural and cosy, full of idyll! Good communication with Annette, and the cabin was clean, neat and lovely – I slept like a baby. It was wonderful to make a cup of tea in the morning with a fantastic view over the lake, with cows and horses grazing around me. Thank you for a good night’s sleep – I hope to book the cabin again next time I’m running a course in Jutland.”
